The foundation’s Arts Appreciation grants provide unrestricted funding to cornerstone arts and cultural organizations in the region to help them pursue their artistic missions. “Florida Studio Theatre has produced high-quality contemporary theatre for over 45 years, and with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s generosity, we will be able to continue to generate top-notch work for a vast audience at a fraction of the standard price,” shared Producing Artistic Director Richard Hopkins.

Teri Hansen Resigns From Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced that Teri Hansen will resign from her position as President/CEO effective June 30, 2015. She will head up operations for the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation, a private Sarasota-based family foundation. The Gulf Coast Board of Directors is initiating a search for Hansen’s replacement. Since 2002 Hansen has served as President/CEO of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Gulf Coast Community Foundation Awards Grants. Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s Board of Directors approved $2,736,740 in grants at its December meeting. The grant awards included $173,415 in Community Grants ($10,000 and under) to regional nonprofits through Gulf Coast’s competitive grant making process, and more than $2.5 million in grants recommended by donors who have established charitable funds at the foundation. Funding Supports Film Projection Equipment For The Opera House. Sarasota Opera was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation which will complete the necessary funding for film projection equipment for the Opera House. The equipment will enable Sarasota Opera to create an opera broadcast and film series during the off-season, expanding Sarasota Opera’s programming from the fall and winter season to year-around.
