2018 Thunder By The Bay Benefiting Suncoast Charities For Children Photography by Tim Britt, Michael Whitney & Mindy Towns The direct and indirect overall economic impact of the 2016 Thunder by the Bay Motorcycle Festival was calculated at almost $8.9 Million (a 10% increase from 2015) and generated 8,400 room nights in area lodgings. This year’s event enables Suncoast Charities for Children to continue providing support to Suncoast Foundation for Handicapped Children, which over the years has constructed area facilities valued at over $20 million dollars. Thunder By The Bay Promo Reel Released. This year’s Thunder by the Bay motorcycle festival, returning to Sarasota at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds, runs from February 15-18, 2018. Event To Remain In Current Location. In a special meeting the Sarasota City Commissioners unanimously approved the 19th Annual Thunder by the Bay remaining in its current location of lower Main Street. APRIL FOOLS! Thunder by the Bay raises over $150,000 annually for special needs clients locally thanks to Suncoast Charities for Children and generates an economic impact of over $8 million and 6,000 room nights. Suncoast Charities For Children Needs YOUR Support! On February 1st at 6pm join those in support of continuing Thunder by the Bay at the scheduled Sarasota City Commission meeting at City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota. There is significant opposition to continuing the festival from the City. An informal, non-scientific, survey conducted after the festival by Downtown Economic Development Coordinator, Norm Gollub, paints a picture those opposing Thunder want to see.
