[1]Chad Spencer’s CMS Photography: Capturing the Best of Sarasota

by Tracy Eisnaugle

As a professional photographer, Chad Spencer understands that his perspective isn’t always the most important one. “My business is built on quality,” he explains. “I work to ensure that my clients are happy, and that the finished product is what they want.”  This, he notes, involves facilitating open communication throughout the process. “It’s important to elicit a sense of comfort, to build a rapport with my clients,” he notes.

Chad launched his professional career as a staff photographer for the PGA Tour. After 6 years in the industry he founded CMS Photography, a move that has afforded him the freedom to integrate his passion for architecture with his talents as a photographer. “Starting a business is always a risky venture,” he acknowledges, “but without that, I wouldn’t have had the same opportunity to mature in my field.”

His portfolio features an array of genres including wedding and event photography; family, personal and professional portraits; travel and golf photography, and real estate and architecture photography. As a professional, he understands the importance of the technical side of the business. “In real estate work, the finished product should be designed to help sell a house more quickly,” he offers. “A REALTOR’S® photograph is also an important sales tool; I’ve got to elicit that friendly smile that will inspire someone to call that particular agent.”  As a professional, Chad also knows just how important a single image can be.  “I’m always looking at home photography,” he reveals. “Browsing through countless thumbnail pictures of prospective properties, I have to determine which ones are interesting enough to merit a click. It’s a big deal; if the photograph doesn’t capture something special, it can mean that a great house won’t get a second glance.”

Chad’s passion for architecture is reflected in his real estate work. He evaluates each property prior to photographing it, assessing the location and orientation to determine which light will best enhance and showcase the property’s unique features. Viewing each shoot as a new challenge, he says, “I really enjoy what I do, and take pride in the finished product.  My end-all goal is to wow my clients. When I hear them exclaim, ‘It’s just what I wanted!’ then I know I’ve done my job well.”

An avid outdoorsman and longtime Sarasota resident, Chad is also a dedicated family man who spends free time with his wife and two sons.
