Local fire stations in Manatee County and several Main Street restaurants will offer samples of their chili. Attendees will vote for the best chili and a trophy will be awarded at 8 p.m. to the winner. Beer and food sales will benefit The Tribute to Heroes Emergency Services Memorial Fund. The Memorial Fund’s mission statement is “Remember and never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, especially the firefighters, EMS and law enforcement personnel.” The fund is used to assist Manatee County fire, police and EMS workers and/or families in the event of a catastrophic “line of duty” injury or death to an emergency worker.

Fire trucks and other rescue vehicles will be on display, face painting and paddle cars for the children and live music by the Rum Runners. Guests are welcome to bring chairs, but please leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
