[1]Schroeder-Manatee Ranch Receives Philanthropy Award.
The Southwest Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals recognized Schroeder-Manatee Ranch (SMR) with the outstanding corporate partner award. The award was presented at a luncheon at Michael’s on East in Sarasota, Florida, on November 17, 2009. The luncheon celebrated the 24th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day, and recognized area businesses and individuals for their philanthropic efforts.
“We believe that SMR is a shining example of how businesses can support the community,” said Bobbi Larson, CEO of The American Red Cross Manatee County Chapter, the organization that nominated SMR. “They do so much for our community. SMR executives and staff give of their time to volunteer on boards of non-profit organizations and the developer donates or sells, at below market value, property for schools and parks, and several non-profits.”
Schroeder-Manatee Ranch President and CEO Rex Jensen accepted the award on behalf of the corporation. “We are humbled and honored that SMR was nominated and selected for this award,” said Jensen, “and I hope to continue SMR’s charitable legacy; however, in economic times like these, it is crucial for the community to realize the need to support local business and economic development. I fear that philanthropy will suffer from the collateral damage of some efforts to limit growth in the state. By working together to voice our support for business efforts statewide, we can ensure a strong future for not only Florida, but for philanthropy as well.”
