Selby Gardens’ Board of Trustees Elects New Trustees

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens board of trustees announced the election of two new board members, Wilson Jones and Stephen Van C. Wilberding.

Wilberding, a Casey Key resident since 1999, came to Sarasota after a 30-year career in international investment banking with Merrill Lynch. He earned his MBA from Columbia University.

Jones is the retired former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BoardSource.  Jones holds a BS degree in Psychology from Howard University and a MS in Business Policy from the Columbia University Business School. 

Thomas B. Luzier, Esq., Selby Gardens’ Chairman of the board of trustees remarked, “Wilberding and Jones will add depth to the board and they will enhance the growth and sustainability of the institution. We are privileged to have them join our board.”

The board of trustees consists of: Thomas B. Luzier, Esq. chairman; Nora Johnson, vice chair; Michael Saunders, immediate past chair; Peter L. Biegel, treasurer; Dr. Laurey Stryker, secretary; Bill Gamble, trustee; Elaine Meshad, trustee; Steve Hazeltine, trustee; Carl Luer, MD, trustee emeritus, and Sue Scully, associates president, ex-officio.
 
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a respected center for research and education as well as a famous orchid showplace. The Gardens hosts more than 135,000 visitors annually. Selby Gardens is located at 811 South Palm Avenue in Sarasota, Florida and is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Christmas day.
