The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) showed strong support for Florida Tourism Day, March 9, 2010, in Tallahassee. Over 100 hospitality industry leaders from across the state met with Florida officials about the issues facing the tourism industry.

Joining forces with FRLA and VISIT FLORIDA were the Florida Attractions Association, Florida Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, and the Florida Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.

“FRLA is proud to be involved in today’s Florida Tourism Day activities. Florida’s hospitality industry represents over 20% of Florida’s economy and is the state’s largest employer with more than one million employees,” said Carol Dover, President and CEO of the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association. “Florida’s hospitality and tourism industry is a 65 billion dollar industry that brings in 3.9 billion dollars in sales tax revenue. The tourism industry is the heart of Florida’s economy and in order to strengthen our economy we must continue to invest in tourism,” continued Dover, who also serves as the 2010 Government Relations Chair of VISIT FLORIDA.
