Newest FREC Appointee Is Managing Broker At Michael Saunders

darla-furst [1]Governor Crist Appoints Darla Furst To The Florida Real Estate Commission.

Darla Furst, a managing broker with Michael Saunders & Company was appointed to the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) by Governor Charlie Crist. The appointment, effective immediately, runs through October 31, 2012, and requires formal confirmation by the Florida State Senate.

The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) consists of seven appointed members who administer and enforce Florida real estate license law. FREC is empowered to recommend changes to the Florida Statues governing the actions of all salespersons and brokers licensed by the state. FREC meets monthly to enforce the real estate practices of salespeople and brokers and adjudicate grievances filed against them. With a formal complaint filed by the public or an agent’s peers FREC has the ability to suspend and revoke licenses and/or administer fines.

“Throughout her career in real estate Darla has worked tirelessly to raise the bar throughout all aspects of the real estate industry,” said Michael Saunders. “So while I’m absolutely thrilled that they’ve honored Darla with this most prestigious appointment, I am not the least bit surprised. Darla is an inspired choice and will serve all stakeholders in the FREC with absolute fairness and equanimity. I know I speak for everyone in the company when I say we couldn’t be more proud than to call Darla one of our own.”

Furst is no stranger to local, state and national real estate circles. She has been a licensed real estate broker since 1976. From 1976 to 1998 she and her husband Bill Furst owned a brokerage on the east coast of Florida encompassing four offices and 125+ associates. She then managed Coldwell Banker’s Siesta Key office before joining Michael Saunders & Company in 2000. As managing broker of the firm’s Palmer Ranch office Furst has assembled a team of over 80 associates with average annual production in excess of $200 million.

Furst was one of three commissioners appointed (or reappointed) last week by the governor. Claude “Chip” Boring, of Sebring; and Richard De Napoli of Hollywood were also appointed. Boring is a former president of the Florida Association of Realtors and broker at Boring Realty, in Sebring. DeNapoli is an officer at Northern Trust Bank, in Hollywood.
