Tuesday, May 25, at 7pm at the Polo Grill Ballroom Dr. Hank Fishkind (noted economist and author of the Lakewood Ranch Incorporation Feasibility Study) will discuss the details of the financial feasibility study for the incorporation of LWR in both Manatee and Sarasota Counties. The boundaries include the existing Community Development Districts (Country Club, Edgewater, Greenbrook, Riverwalk, and Summerfield), Country Club East, Lake Club, Main Street, Market Square, Corporate Park (in Sarasota County) and the Stewardship District.
The discussion will include the assumptions and calculations that demonstrate that incorporation is financially feasible and sustainable without adding any new taxes for existing residents and without increasing existing taxes any more than they would increase in the current environment. A single unified community would be created with a unique character and identity, taxing and spending decisions would be made at the local level rather than by county or state governments, and significant opportunity to achieve increasing economies of scale with future growth.
