The Wellness Community Adds Three to Board of Trustees

Veterans from public relations and finance, along with a local oncologist, have  joined The Wellness Community’s (TWC) board of trustees. Dwight Fitch, M.D., and Robert (Bob) Schauer are new trustees. Jim Braun, a long-time Wellness Community supporter, is returning for his second time as a TWC trustee.

jim-braun [2]Braun, a financial advisor with Stifel Nicolaus, spent twenty years in consulting and corporate management prior to working in the investment field. Braun has a distinguished academic background, is former board chairman of Sarasota Season of Sculpture and is district chairman of this area’s Boy Scouts of America. Braun will serve on The Wellness Community’s budget and finance committee. 

dwight-fitch-md [3]Fitch, M.D., is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and continued on to receive his medical degree. Dr. Fitch is specially trained in advanced radiation therapy techniques and the author of many scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He is an oncologist with 21st Century Oncology in Bradenton and serves as Medical Advisor to the American Cancer Society and is a Board member of the Manatee County Medical Society. Dr. Fitch is deeply committed to The Wellness Community’s mission of psychosocial support for people affected by cancer. Dr. Fitch will serve on The Wellness Community’s medical outreach committee.  

bob-schauer [4]Schauer retired as AT&T’s Vice President, Public Relations and Public Affairs, where he headed all domestic and international public relations. He received his BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and MA from the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University. Schauer formerly served as President of AT&T Foundation and was active in the community throughout his career, serving on the boards of the Yale Repertory Theater, the Berkeley Repertory Theater and the Playwrights Horizon Theater in New York.  Schauer will serve on the marketing and public relations committee for The Wellness Community.
