When the salon industry’s leading stylists and companies gathered in New York City for the prestigious Fall Atelier presented by Intercoiffure America/Canada, Sarasota’s own Cutting Loose Salon & Spa was in attendance and participated throughout the two-day event on many levels.

Cutting Loose is known for its fashion-forward hair designs and innovating styling techniques. Staff members sharpened those skills and found new inspiration in a new series of seminars and hair shows presented by top industry talents, including Glamorama, a collection of classic 50s styles with a modern twist and Beauty Unmasked, a three-part extravaganza featuring demonstrations by world-class stylists. Other topics showcased by an international team of experts included architectural hair design, global influences on hair styling, and advanced coloring techniques.

“It was a wonderful event that really gets your creative juices flowing as a stylist,” said Cutting Loose owner Coral Pleas, who attended the event accompanied by 21 stylists. “No matter how long you have been in the industry, being at an event that like with some of the leading stylists in the world is inspiring. It’s a great opportunity to see what is up-and-coming and compare notes with salon owners from all over the country.”

Founded in 1933, Intercoiffure America/Canada is a professional beauty association with an exclusive membership of more than 300 high-level salon owners representing some 2,200 elite salons in North America. As a group, members help launch new trends in beauty and fashion, and set creative and quality standards for the industry. The Fall Atelier, this year held October 16-18 at the Waldorf-Astoria, is a yearly event that is intended to serve as an annual meeting as well as a creative platform to present new looks in hair design. The group also sponsors an annual Spring Symposium to focus on business education and up-close demonstrations.
