On January 12, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm,  the Bishop Planetarium lobbyat the South Florida Museum is transformed into the think + drink (science) cafe, a place where you can lounge on a couch, grab a beer or a glass of wine (or a soft drink) and learn about cutting-edge science in a relaxed, informal setting. Typically our “expert du jour” gives a short presentation on the topic of the month, and then opens the floor for questions and discussion. Drinks and bar snacks available for purchase. Feel free to bring food.

No, they didn’t announce that little green men had phoned us. But NASA’s recent announcement that bacteria have been coaxed to incorporate arsenic into their chemistry may hasten our discovery of life somewhere out there. Join Jeff Rodgers for an informal exploration of what he calls “NACHO-based” life and how it will change the way we think about, and search for, life.

think + drink (science) is FREE and open to all ages, but the museum appreciates RSVPs so they know how many to plan for.

RSVP to Amara at 941-746-4131 ext 11 or via email at acocilovo@southfloridamuseum.org [2].
