Lazare Gallery announced the much anticipated opening of their new gallery in Sarasota, Florida. As a compliment to their destination gallery in Charles City, Virginia, John and Kathy Wurdeman choose Sarasota because of the community’s vibrant culture and emphasis on the arts.
Known for its elegant palette, evocative subjects, and technical virtuosity, Russian Realism has become increasingly prized by art historians, collectors and investors who recognize its significance as the most important realist art movement of the twentieth century. No where is this appreciation more apparent than Lazare Gallery, where Russian Realism experts John and Kathy Wurdeman showcase a remarkable inventory of over a thousand masterworks by some of Russia’s most influential artists. The Wurdemans have loaned over 150 Russian paintings to museums during the last few years.
John Wurdeman has received an honorary diploma from the Russian Artist Union for his contribution to Russian art history education. John and/or Kathy has sponsored the publication of art books, financed documentaries, and written numerable Russian art articles for books and magazines, and as well as given lectures on Russian art at museums (in the US as well as Russia), universities and to art groups on a regular basis.
