The University of Rhode Island President, Dave Dooley and his wife Lynn Dooley, spent time in Lakewood Ranch with TruLiving Homes, CEO Tony Squitieri and his wife Karyn Squitieri, who are both alumni of the University.
Dooley has reached out to the many University Alumni through out Florida to garner and spread the University’s support and network within the State. During his trips he learns about how each Alumnus have grown in business and in philanthropy.
[1]At Lakewood Ranch, Dooley learned how the Lakewood Ranch housing market has been defying the odds of the Southwest Florida real estate down turn boosting 250 new home sales in 2010. Spending time with local real estate expert and homebuilding executive Squitieri, Dooley was able to listen to how real estate and new homes have compared to other parts of the country.
Squitieri is the CEO and managing principal of TruLiving LLC, a diversified real estate company, who has consulted for one of the nation’s largest real estate capital companies purchasing distressed real estate assets, values over $3 billion dollars, from the Federal Deposit insurance Corp. (FDIC). FDIC has seized most of the assets from failed banking institutions across the country. These assets are located in many States and are in areas that have undergone major transformations in their real estate markets.
The Dooleys also learned how the Squitieris provide volunteer efforts to local children and families, with Tony as President of a local non-profit Pop Warner scholar athlete organization, the Sarasota Junior Football Association. This organization exists to support youth development through scholar athlete programs.
