[1]Home Resource Unveils 2012 Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe Season Line Up.
Sponsors and VIPs of the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) were the first to learn of the theater company’s 2012 season line-up at a recent event held at Home Resource.
[1]Two of the original shows of the 2012 season will be written by Jacobs Love, Sung in the Key of Aretha, the story of four women who live together in a Florida apartment building, and The Sammy Davis Story, about the legendary entertainer. The third play is Blackbird: The Josephine Baker Story by Sherman Yellen, which traces the life of the stage sensation from Jim Crow America to Paris. The widely acclaimed A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, is the only drama of the season.
WBTT, founded by local actor, singer, director and playwright Nate Jacobs, is the first and only professional black theater company on Florida’s West Coast. Its mission is to produce plays that promote and celebrate the African-American experience.
