StarFruit Productions will be screening its new short film, “The Couch,” 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, at Sarasota’s Home Resource. Local filmmaker and director Sage Hall, president of StarFruit Productions, will be present at the screening.

Five female writers collaborated to create the cohesive short film – Korryn Day, Debby Hall, Mary Brown, Hall and a familiar Sarasota name, Jenny Beres. Beres won “The Play’s the Thing” playwriting competition two years in a row and her work has been featured around the country, including Los Angeles and New York City.

The Couch is centered around a woman, Joy, played by Hall, who has lost her job at the prime of her career and is faced with the bland reality of the world she has created. When her cat pees on her couch and she discards it in the alley, Joy gains a deeper understanding of the world around her, living vicariously through the people that encounter the couch and the scenes that unfold.

Home Resource is located at 741 Central Avenue in Sarasota’s Rosemary District. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the screening begins at 7 p.m. Cost of admission is $10. RSVP to (941) 527-9522 or sage@starfruitproductions.com [2]. Seating is limited. For more information, visit http://thecouch.starfruitproductions.com [3].
