[1]Sarasota Opera Announces Registration for Summer Opera Camp.
Young people ages 8 and up can now enroll in Sarasota Opera’s Summer Camp occurring from June 13th thru July 1st, 2011. The three-week program runs five full days per week, from 9am-4pm. The camp takes place at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 North Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota. Before and after camp care is available at no additional charge.
“We are so thrilled to offer this camp for youth,” says Kate Gigliotti, Youth Opera Coordinator. “It’s a great way for kids to test out many different facets of the performing arts – from singing to set building! Our experienced staff and teachers work hard to create a fun, no pressure environment designed to maximize on fun and learning.”
The Summer Camp promotes serious study of all aspects of opera in a structured, but informal atmosphere. The camp offers classes in voice, music, acting, opera appreciation, design, and technical production. This year’s focus will be on the great operas with Spanish themes. The final session will showcase the participants’ work during the program in a performance featuring all campers.
No audition is necessary to participate. Tuition for the program is $300 per child. There are a small number of scholarships are available. Registration must be postmarked by May 2, 2011.
