Sarasota Opera Announces Communications Officer
Samuel Lowry Named Sarasota Opera Communications Officer.
Sarasota Opera announced Samuel Lowry as Communications Officer effective immediately. The primary role of the Communications Officer is to be the first point of contact with all levels of press for all news and events related to the Sarasota Opera. Additionally, Lowry will assist the Director of Marketing with planning and implementing a marketing strategy for the winter season, developing education programs and fundraising.
“I am thrilled to be assuming this new role with the marketing team at Sarasota Opera and am proud to have been given the opportunity to serve as a representative to an opera company that has garnered a reputation for excellence”, states Lowry. “This is a particularly exciting time for the opera as we begin to approach the end of our Verdi Cycle, celebrate Maestro DeRenzi’s 30th Season as Artistic Director and continue to cultivate our new American Classics series initiated just this past season”.
In July of 2010 he joined the Sarasota Opera as Susan Danis’ Executive Assistant. Lowry’s unique background made him the natural choice to fill the position as he holds a bachelors of music in voice performance with a minor in business administration from the University of Oregon and his Masters of Music in voice performance from the Peabody Conservatory. Prior to entering the world of Arts Administration, he performed extensively in Europe, Central America and on both sides of the United States as a professional opera singer. Most recently, Lowry held the position of Marketing and Development Manager with the InterSchool Orchestras of New York (ISO), New York City’s premier youth orchestra program.
