Chad Jones Perspectives Golf Tips Chipping
The New Age Chip Shot
By Chad Jones
The average golfer has been commonly told in a chip shot to get the hands forward, move the ball back in the stance and keep their weight forward. The information that is left out is which body part to move and when, during a chip shot.
Here in lies the confusion for most golfers.

Good Posture
The most common result I see in my student’s body motion is moving their knees and hips first towards the target on the down swing. This causes you to have an over active lower body and inconsistent strikes on the ball.

Bad Posture
The New Age technique is to have the hands and arms start the down swing and have your lower body hold and feel like the upper body out races it towards the target. The result will be your knees and hips do not move until after the club makes contact with the ball, and your sternum will be in front of the ball. Making the strike with the ball more consistent and repeatable.
The next time you’re out practicing try this tip to get your ball closer to the hole on your approach shots. You will lower your scores with a little practice.
