Nicolas Guerard, Laurent Lacombe and Alexis Guilleux, business students from La Rochelle, France, joined Habitat for Humanity Sarasota as part of a voluntary summer work study program. The students are required to work and study abroad for three months as a part of the university’s humanitarian and social service curriculum.

Lacombe wants to make himself useful in society to help people in need. He gained awareness from Habitat how people can work together in different income levels to bridge the gap of rich and less fortunate for the good of society to create better homes for people to live.

“The students contributed greatly to our organization over the past couple of months and learned a lot about Habitat, its volunteers, construction, our ReStore and the business side of our non-profit. The students worked on construction sites, attended board meetings, gained knowledge of the financial requirements and accounting, attended a fundraiser, a home dedication and much more.” said Renee Snyder, Executive Director.

They spent their free time visiting Sarasota’s attractions and beaches. Guerard, Lacombe and Guilleux will take back what they learned from being in America, the culture how Americans live, many experiences and Habitat’s affordable housing program.
