[1]Mike Tobias Named Sarasota County Fire Chief.
Mike Tobias, a 32-year veteran with the Sarasota County Fire Department, was named Fire Chief by Terry Lewis, Interim County Administrator.
Tobias was selected after the county conducted a national search to replace Ken Ellerbe, who departed last December. “I decided to name Mike because he has a record of commitment to our community and the safety of our citizens,” Lewis said. “I have worked with Mike in many capacities over the years and his competence, ethics and integrity are rock solid.”
Prior to becoming Fire Chief, Tobias served as Assistant Fire Chief. Additionally, he has served in the Fire Department as Battalion Chief, Captain, and Paramedic.
