sarasota-chamber-logo [1]The Green Business Leadership Council Presents Green My Parents.

In an effort to increase awareness to sustainable practices the Green Business Leadership Council is partnering with local businesses to bring “GreenMyParents” to students in Sarasota County. GreenMyParents hopes to show the world that seeding the green economy and saving the planet is the “Lemonade Stand of the 21st century!”

The GreenMyParents information session is FREE and will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 6:30pm at the State College of Florida Lakewood Ranch campus auditorium. School administrators and youth organization leaders are invited to attend along with any staff or coordinators that would be interested in learning more about this program for use with students. Refreshments will be provided.

GreenMyParents provides a unique opportunity for kids and their parents to do something together, as a family, as a team.  By encouraging and supporting their experience of greening the home, young people develop confidence as well as life and leadership skills through planning and championing change, empowering them to positively influence their family, friends and peers.

The Green Business Leadership Council will present the GreenMyParents program at no cost to schools and youth organizations, by having Chamber sponsors and volunteers provide the information, materials, and resources needed in time for a January 2012 launch to students.  The GBLC will be holding a one-time special event for educators and coordinators that will outline the program specifics along with a Q&A session.
