Home Resource announced the latest in their play-reading series, Natalie Symons’ “LARK EDEN”. The new 90 minute play is a deeply moving and darkly comic look at the fingerprints that we unknowingly leave on the hearts of those we love. This play reading is presented in conjunction with New American Theatre of St. Petersburg.

LARK EDEN had its world premier at Theater Schmeater in Seattle in April 2011, followed by a two-week run at New American Theater Center @ BayWalk. According to Brian Becker, NAT producing artistic director/CEO, the play was so well-received that NAT scheduled an encore performance to open its second season.

According to TheatreMania, LARK EDEN “explodes with raw emotion…. is deeply moving and surprisingly hilarious…. one of the most moving experiences I have ever had in the theatre.” The play, presented through a series of letters, traces the life-long friendship of three Southern women in Lark Eden, GA-a town that may not be the paradise its name implies. Beginning in the Depression era and continuing through the early years of the new century, the play explores the ties that bind three lifelong friends “as tightly as family and as surely as love,” says Symons. From frog-catching girls with skinned knees to world-wizened grandmothers, LARK EDEN follows the women through personal trials and victories set against the historical tribulations that provide the backdrop for these everyday American lives.

The reading will be on Tuesday September 27 and will begin around 7 pm. Tickets to the show are $10 and payment is collected at the door  Proceeds from the show will go to the actors. For reservations, please email  mbush@homeresource.com [2]. Seating is very limited.

Home Resource is located at 741 Central Avenue in Sarasota’s Rosemary District.
