[1]Selby Gardens Presents “Avant Garden” Exhibition And Sale.
Join Selby Gardens on Friday, January 13th, from 7pm-9pm, for the “Avant Garden” exhibit opening in Selby’s Museum of Botany and the Arts.
From January 12th through February 20th, 2012, S/ART/q, a circle of artists working to enhance the arts culture in Sarasota, will curate an exhibition of their artwork entitled Avant Garden in the Museum of Botany and the Arts at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. The thirteen artists were granted access to the Gardens to observe and study the botanical collections, and to gather knowledge and inspiration from their experiences to make original works of art.
The artists will display their interpretations of the Gardens in a fresh and interesting way as well as expose the public to how artists function in society. The exhibit will, in turn, bring awareness to rarely seen aspects of the Gardens and its Collections. Entry to the exhibition is included in the price of admission to the Gardens.
