In recognition of Financial Literacy Month, Insignia Bank hosted its third annual visit from Tatum Ridge Elementary School.

Students from the third, fourth and fifth grades toured the Cattlemen Office getting a behind the scenes look at the banking process. A quick lesson in saving accounts and interest rates started the students thinking about what to do with their own money, and how a bank can help them grow their money faster.

“It was a fun time for both students and staff,” said Gary Houseworth, VP/Branch Manager of Insignia Bank’s Cattlemen Office. “Sharing what we do as bankers on an everyday basis and demonstrating how the ATM and cash counter works are always favorites with the kids.”

Insignia Bank is dedicated to starting financial literacy at an early age. Studies from the National Endowment for Financial Education have shown that financial education for children influences their behavior as adults. Those who have received financial literacy education in their youth are more likely to save, have lower credit card debt, and take better financial risks as adults.

Insignia Bank is a locally owned and operated Community Bank with its downtown location at 333 North Orange Avenue at the corner of Fruitville Road in Sarasota, FL. Insignia’s other branch office is located at 5850 Fruitville Road at the intersection of Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, FL. Insignia Bank’s primary lines of business include consumer and commercial deposit services, commercial real estate lending, residential mortgages, and investment services. Insignia Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and an Equal Opportunity Lender. www.insigniabank.com [2]
