Goodwill Manasota announced the recent hiring of Donn Githens as its director of logistics and donor services. Githens was previously the regional director of retail operations at Goodwill of North Georgia. A Florida State University graduate with a B.S. in Economics, Githens brings with him more than two decades of retail and donated goods experience.
“My grandparents worked for a charity for almost 20 years doing something similar to what Goodwill does. They would pick up clothing from neighborhoods on Long Island, then sell the items either in stores or as salvage. My grandfather drove trucks, and my grandmother coordinated a team that contacted local residents to secure donations,” said Githens.
A seasoned expert in the retail and donated goods enterprise, Githens oversaw operations of nine Goodwill of North Georgia stores. Prior to that, he worked for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers in Georgia, where he operated the region’s stores and supervised donor acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he served as a regional manager for Blockbuster Video.
“Goodwill is a multi-site retailer experiencing great growth and great interest from the community,” said Githens. “I am really excited to be able to strategize new ways to optimize our impact.”
