[1]Lakewood Ranch Golf And Country Club Expansion Plans.
Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, Inc. (SMR), the developers of Lakewood Ranch, will undertake an expansion of and addition to existing facilities at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, officials announced. The improvements will be made at the Club’s Athletic Center and at Royal Lakes Golf Course, and were made necessary by the robust growth of the community.
Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club’s Royal Lakes golf course, presently served by a temporary building with a shell parking area, will see the addition of a double-ended driving range and practice area – similar to the one found at the Club’s existing facility – followed by an approximately 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot clubhouse with a golf shop and bar and grill, and a paved parking lot.
Due to the extreme demand for classes and heavy use of the gym area, the existing 11,000-square-foot fitness center building at the Athletic Center will be expanded by 6,900 square feet, with upgrades to the lighting and HVAC systems. Pickleball courts will also be installed.
No specific figures were released, but the expansion, improvements and construction will require a multi-million dollar investment by SMR. Dozens of new jobs are expected to be created as well.
