Home Resource Presents WORD PAINTING.
Home Resource announces the performance of WORD PAINTING on October 31st and November 4th and 5th, an original play written by Annie Morrison and directed by Blake Walton.
This event has a very special meaning to Kathy and Michael Bush, Home Resource owners, because Morrison chose to world premiere WORD PAINTING at Home Resource before she performs the play at the United Solo Play Theater Festival in New York. At last year’s Solo Play Festival, Morrison won the award for Best Actress for her performance in “LINDA LOVELY GOES TO BROADWAY”. Based on her success, Morrison was inducted into the United Solo Academy along with other Broadway actors, including Walton.
The play, WORD PAINTING, is inspired by Morrison’s own experience as a model for Ringling College art students. She takes a profound look at her late mother, an artist and true “Renaissance Woman”, and explores the personalities surrounding the easel: the Model, the Student, the Critic and the Art itself, leading her audience through a deeply poetic, lyrical dance.
The twist to this 45 minute solo play is that the group of monologues are from different eras but interact at a point in time. The model is contemporary, the artist is from 1942, the Art Critic is from 1912, and the Art piece itself is from 2042. What is discovered during their interaction is the universality of certain truths.
