Home Resource Presents LEADING MEN.
Home Resource announces the performance of LEADING MEN, an original play written and performed by Blake Walton and directed by Annie Morrison. The performance will be Thursday January 30th and begins at 7pm.
In LEADING MEN, Blake tells the truth of what it is to be a “real man” through the lens of someone who is too often considered “other than.” It is interwoven with his story as a gay boy growing up in Eisenhower America, who is rejected by his father at a very young age for being “different.” As he grows into adulthood, the two men find an understanding, then acceptance and finally a profound admiration and love for each other when Blake becomes a father himself. Because of the strength, creativity, humor, and compassion possessed by his father, himself and Blake’s son, the three leading men in this life movie demonstrate “True Manhood”.
The play was premiered at Home Resource last fall and then taken to The United Solo Festival in New York City in November. Blake was honored with the prestigious 2013 United Solo Award for “Best Premiere.” at the festival.
According to the New York Theatre critic Martin Denton, “Walton looks back on the times he’s lived through with wisdom and insight. And humor. Lots of humor: this is, in places, often when we least expect it, a very funny play.”
