October 28, 2014 Gateway Bank Hosts Awareness Event

What Is The Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation?

Shaun P. Merriman, President and CEO of Gateway Bank, announced that Gateway Bank is hosting an Awareness “Happy Hour” Event for Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF) on October 28, 2014, from 5:30pm-7:30pm in the bank’s lobby located at 1100 S. Tamiami Trail (at Bahia Vista Street) in Sarasota. The event will spotlight what JAJF and the Sarasota hospitality community are doing for young, late-stage families from across the U.S. brought here to our beaches. You must RSVP to attend.

Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning, NBC Sunday Night Football, and the Today Show, JAJF is a national 501(c)(3) that treats families facing the imminent loss of their young Mom or Dad to WOW! Experiences, which are a timeout together as a family away from their late stage cancer to fabulous destinations to create cherished, lasting memories…while they can. JAJF founder and Sarasota resident, Jon Albert, works to bring families to the Sarasota area for their WOW! Experiences, in collaboration with local hotel partners such as The Ritz Carlton, The Longboat Key Club, Hyatt Downtown Sarasota, and Hyatt Siesta Key. Hotel staff coordinate with local restaurants, tourist attractions, photographers, vendors, etc. to create a unique and memorable WOW Experience for deserving families.

The Happy Hour event will celebrate this collaboration, and educate community members and the media. In addition, a group of young professionals who volunteer to raise funds and awareness for JAJF will be introduced. This group, named the “Sarasota Emerging Leaders Council,” consists of volunteers from Gateway Bank, Willis A. Smith Construction, Northwestern Mutual, PNC Bank and B2 Business Real Estate Solutions, Inc.
