Ringling College of Art and Design Opens Galleries To The Public.
On Friday, January 16th, 2015 from 4:30–7:00pm the Ringling College of Art and Design Opens their galleries to the public.
Wonder what is going on at Ringling College of Art and Design? Here is a chance to check it out with their free public Artwalk – showcasing a wide variety of art in seven of our campus galleries and Letterpress & Book Arts Center. You can also sign up for courses in our Continuing Studies and Special Programs dept.
Exhibitions include rare medieval and early modern manuscripts; contemporary graphic novel illustrations; stunning artist glass; unique student and alumni work; a traveling show from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; artist books; and art for sale. Refreshments will be served. Free and open to all with plenty of convenient parking. Maps and student ambassadors will be available to guide you to the different galleries.
Selby Gallery I: A Legacy Inscribed: The Lawrence J. Schoenberg Collection of Manuscripts on loan from the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries.
Selby Gallery II: The Great American Graphic Novel featuring original artwork by graphic novelists such as Bernie Wrightson, Milton Caniff and Frank Frazetta.
Madeby Gallery in the Ulla Searing Center: Student & alumni work for sale – with special guest artists Jess Nagy and Mirald Cake.
Patricia Thompson Gallery in the Keating Center: Selections from In Your Face-the power of portraiture, Lori Loveberry George
Letterpress & Book Arts Center: Letterpress printing and book binding demonstrations
Christ-Janer Gallery: Student sketchbook exhibition from the Illustration Dept.
Crossley Gallery: New York SRP/Burren College Participants Corey Allen and Danielle Colon from the Fine Arts Dept. present their work.
Richard and Barbara Basch Gallery in the Academic Center: Annual Glass Exhibition with selections from the Richard and Barbara Basch Collection featuring Lino Tagliapietra.
Willis Smith Galleries in the Academic Center: Deadly Medicine in the Academic Center: Master Race, a traveling exhibition produced by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The Ringling College of Art and Design campus entrance is at 2700 N. Tamiami Trail on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Sarasota. There are several parking lots on the south side of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and throughout the campus.
