Kick off the new year with one of the Bard’s best-loved comedies, a hilarious tale of mistaken identities, lovesickness and ribald revelry, Shakespear In The Park, January 27, 2015.
A laugh-out-loud funny tale of gender confusion in which after being shipwrecked in a storm and losing her brother, a girl disguises herself as a man to be near the count she adores only to be pursued by the woman he loves. Meanwhile, one household cranks up the mischief-making by tricking the stuffy steward into believing his mistress has fallen for him. This treasured comedy brims with wild infatuations, swooning serenades, drunken high-jinks, and beloved characters.
This production is set in 1926- the Prohibition Era. This choice makes a lot of sense for director Jenkins. “The late-night carousing, excessive wealth and stunning beauty all occurring under the scrutiny of a puritanical figure works so well”.
The professional acting troupe, Jobsite, who is currently performing Twelfth Night at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, will bring their performance to our parking lot for a one night only performance. One of the lead actors in this performance is Roxanne Fay who has performed The Life of Gala Dali, A Picasso ,The Year of Magical Thinking and so many more in our showroom.
Tickets are $20 and reservations are required. The event will be limited to 100 attendees to keep the experience “intimate”. All proceeds go to the actors.
