Celebrity Real Estate Monday $28 Million

Late Comedian’s New York Extravaganza On The Market For $28 Million.

The late Joan Rivers’ 5,100 sq ft, 11 room, penthouse condominium, just off Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue on the Upper East Side of New York City, is on the market for a cool $28 Million. The condo takes up the top three floors of a Gilded Age limestone mansion constructed in 1903 and includes two Louis XIV inspired rooms with double height windows and 23 foot ceilings painted like the sky, 5 wood burning fireplaces, 4 BR, 4.5BA, 2 kitchens, 2 terraces and a great view of Central Park.

Rivers, who received a posthumous Grammy award made the opulent abode her home for 25 years. She believed it was haunted and hired a “voodoo priestess” to banish the ghost, thought to be J.P. Morgan’s niece. Rivers bought the triplex in February, 1988 for $3.2 million, and kept an office and vast card catalog of one-liners there.

“People say that money is not the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made.” — Joan Rivers. The home is listed with Leighton Candler [1] of the Corcoran Group.
