Gateway Bank Receives Volunteer Service Award

2014 President’s Volunteer Service “Gold” Award For Gateway Bank.

Shaun P. Merriman, (pictured) President and CEO of Gateway Bank of Southwest Florida, announced that the bank was awarded the prestigious 2014 President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award for its contributions in the community. In addition, ten Gateway Bank employees received individual service recognition, for annual volunteer hours in excess of 100.

“All 41 of our employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talent to support local nonprofit and educational organizations,” says Merriman. “I am proud to highlight the positive impact we are making in the communities we serve.” Gateway Bank employees collectively contributed 2,504 hours of volunteer service in 2014, thus earning a “Gold” group award.

Established in 2003, the President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to encourage more people to serve their communities. The Award is available on an annual basis to individuals, groups and families who have met or exceeded requirements for volunteer service. Award eligibility is based on hour requirements varying by age. A record of annual volunteer service hours is submitted, and the number of hours logged determines the award level (gold, silver or bronze). Award recipients receive: 1) an official President’s Volunteer Service Award lapel pin; 2) a personalized certificate of achievement; and 3) a congratulatory letter from President Barack Obama.
