Desoto Speedway Leads All FL Tracks

Winged Sprints Exceed An Average Speed Of 105mph.

Saturday night Desoto Speedway led all Florida tracks with a lineup of 31 Pro Trucks. Drivers came as far as the Georgia line for the event. Chad Chastain, from Alva, FL (Lee County), held off a late restart challenge to win the feature.

Later in the evening the winged sprint cars were flying, turning laps in excess of 105 mph (average speed!) on the 3/8 mile asphalt oval. That meant the drivers were diving into the turns at 130/140mph. Just absolutely crazy!!! I was there. The race saw a hard crash by Troy Thompson, who was fortunately unhurt. After a late caution Troy DeCaire went the rest of the way unchallenged to claim the victory, which he dedicated to his mother, Sandi DeCaire who lost her long battle with cancer.

Next week, Sportsmen, the LKQ Pick Your Part Pure Stocks, Take Aim Gun Range Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Bombers and School Bus Figure 8’s headline the racing action at Desoto Speedway.
