October 16, 2015 National Feral Cat Day

Cat Depot Celebrates Feral Cat Day.

Cat Depot will honor National Feral Cat Day on Friday, October 16, 2015, by working with local animal advocates and providing spay/neuter for 16 feral cats from a local colony. Cat Depot has spayed/neutered 1,135 cats and kittens, including 500 feral cats, since the opening of the Rose Durham Cat Care Clinic in November, 2014. In addition to spay/neuter services, feral cats receive treatment for internal and external parasites, rabies and distemper vaccines, microchip, ear tip, abdominal tattoo, and cold laser treatments to the incision site, which is a cutting edge technique, to speed recovery. Any additional medical care or wound treatment is provided while under anesthesia.

Cat Depot will also hold a private ribbon cutting and dedication of the Caroline Resnick Surgery Suite in the Rose Durham Cat Care Clinic on Friday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m.

“Cat Depot’s spay/neuter clinic hit the ground running,” says community cat advocate, Caroline Resnick, who organizes trap-neuter-vaccinate-return projects through the clinic. “They lead the community in spaying and neutering feral cats, and I’m proud to be aligned with such a humane and cutting-edge group.”

Earlier this year, Resnick’s husband surprised her with a Valentine’s gift by dedicating the surgical suite in her name. Since her specialty is predominately working with feral cats, Resnick made the decision to save the official ribbon cutting ceremony for October 16th, which is National Feral Cat Day, making the day even more significant, by highlighting the success of sterilizing over 500 feral cats.
