Jazz Club Of Sarasota Presents The Tom Ellison Quartet.

The Jazz Club of Sarasota continues Jazz at Two, its longstanding concert series that brings performances by world-class musicians for a modest admission fee. The concerts are presented on Friday afternoons through April 15, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3975 Fruitville Road. Admission, set at $10 for Jazz Club members and $15 for nonmembers, includes a one-dollar contribution to the Jazz Club Scholarship Fund, according to Peg Pluto, Jazz Club president.

November 6: Tom Ellison Quartet. Tom Ellison, reeds & vocals; Judi Glover, piano; Don Mopsick, bass; Bob Stone, drums.

Tom Ellison has performed with such respected artists as Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, John Denver, Henry Mancini, Andy Williams, Woody Herman, Jimmy Dorsey, Aretha Franklin, the Temptations and Lou Rawls. He leads the modern jazz quintet Hip Pocket and plays in the Naples Jazz Orchestra. Bob Stone, founder and musical director of the Naples Jazz Orchestra, led the Bob Stone Big Band in Chicago for 15 years before moving to Florida in 1990. Don Mopsick has impressive credentials with top-level musicians and is perhaps best known for his 19-year gig with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band and Riverwalk Jazz public radio series. Judi Glover, a keyboardist, vocalist, music director and arranger, has been a member of Alex Glover & Company since 1987.
