James O. Fergeson, Jr., J. Ronald Skipper, Richard R. Gans and Douglas R. Bald, shareholders in the law firm of Fergeson, Skipper, Shaw, Keyser, Baron & Tirabassi, were named to the 2016 list of Florida Super Lawyers. Fergeson specializes in tax law and has been recognized as a Florida Super Lawyer each year since 2008. Skipper and Gans specialize in wills, trusts and estates, and have been recognized as Florida Super Lawyers since 2007. Bald specializes in appellate law and was also recognized as a Florida Super Lawyer in 2014.
Super Lawyers recognizes attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition, met ethical standards, and been recognized for their professional achievements. Only the top five percent of those nominated in more than 70 practice areas are chosen for the list. The annual selections are made by a research team at Super Lawyers, a service of Thomson Reuters-Legal Division, using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area.
Fergeson Skipper was founded in Sarasota in 1976, and throughout 2016 its shareholders and staff will be commemorating the firm’s 40th anniversary of representing businesses and individuals in the Sarasota County area.
All four attorneys are board certified by The Florida Bar in their areas of expertise and hold AV Preeminent Peer Review Ratings from the attorney rating site Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating available for an attorney’s legal ability and professional ethics.
