You could say Mariah Morris hit the ground running in her career early on and it led to a fascinating path. Worldly experiences mixed with an innate hospitable charm truly sets her apart as a realtor. Working from the heart to serve and protect the client is what matters most. These are traits that shines through almost instantaneously upon meeting.

She spent her childhood in northern Maine, although you could almost call her a native to the area. “I have lived all over Sarasota and neighboring communities for 17 years, starting in Venice Island in 2001, to Downtown Sarasota, and now Siesta Key. I love this region and I am blessed to be able to be an ambassador to others about this area.”

She studied architecture at the University of Maine and fearlessly made a move across the country to San Jose, California to study biochemistry. It was there where she launched her first endeavor, TheInnKeeper.com [2] in 1998, an online worldwide directory of bed and breakfasts, guest homes, country inns, and other boutique properties. It is a platform that was the first-ever of its kind and is still alive and thriving today.

The business was marketed by going door to door by way of an RV she had bought and drove south from Maine making stops to visit the property owners and get them onboard with her idea. The final destination was Florida’s West Coast, upon arriving at the Gulf of Mexico, she knew immediately that this would become a new place to call home.

Soon after settling in Venice Island, Mariah made a big splash into a real estate career and bid on a plot of land at an auction that was slated to be a multi-home subdivision, but it never got off the ground. The land was cleared, the only home that was there was fixed up, and the rest of the lots were divided up ready to be sold.

“Over time, I took a lot of risks, but they were always educated risks. I learned my strengths and weaknesses and brought in the right people to fill in any gaps.”

The subdivision started taking shape and the homes had progressive features like fiber cement siding that looked like wood but resisted peeling paint, and architectural design features like arched columns. Then in 2008 with the economic crash, the project was put on hold through this financial downturn.

“During my time in the real estate field, I learned a lot about building homes, valuations, mortgage financing, the wins and losses during real estate cycles. There has always been a true passion that I have for this business; because to me, it’s not just about making money, but bringing my expertise and experience to bear on helping people buy or sell their home, that for some is their most precious and valuable possession.”

With everything available on line, Mariah adds, “In the process of buying, I think it’s important to educate people on the quality of schools, environment, history, and culture of the neighborhoods they are looking in; so I can better match their needs and wants. Every home and neighborhood has an energy, history, and story and its my job to help my clients understand that uniqueness”.

To strengthen her capabilities, she established The Inn Team with her partner Dr. Arnold (Avi) Yoskowitz, a Harvard/MIT educated builder/developer, who she met in broker’s class. Recently, they both accepted and graduated from the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) 2017 Leadership Academy.

Their team now offers not just residential services, but also an expertise in commercial real estate including commercial leasing, land development, investment sales in multi-family, hotels and inns, shopping center sales and leasing, as well as warehousing and industrial and office buildings. They have both built, owned, and managed shopping centers in the Northeast and here in Sarasota. They have experience in everything in the portfolio they offer and say, “it’s an honor and pleasure to facilitate our clients’ transactions in reaching their goals.”

“Life has been good to me and I hope to do more for people and my community and give back from all that I have learned and benefited from.”
