New College Of Florida Appoints Dean Of Outreach

Bill Woodson, Ph.D., Joins New College.

New College of Florida has appointed Bill Woodson, Ph.D., to serve as Dean of Outreach, Engagement & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer. In this newly created position, Dr. Woodson will spearhead community relations with the greater Sarasota community and serve as the college’s chief diversity officer.

“Bill brings to this new role a strong track record of leadership on diversity and inclusion initiatives in both the corporate world and higher education,” says New College President Donal O’Shea. “He is also a Sarasota native who is eager to strengthen connections between New College and the local community.”

Prior to joining New College, Woodson served as Assistant Dean at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. In this role, he oversaw admissions, career services, and student life functions for four MBA programs, and led the college’s community engagement and corporate outreach efforts.

“This is an exciting, full-circle moment for me,” Woodson says. “New College represents an opportunity for me to serve a college with a great tradition of excellence, in a community to which I have deep family ties, in a capacity that promises to be both challenging and rewarding.”
