Real Estate – Christy May – Coldwell Banker

Christy May, REALTOR

Coldwell Banker

Residential Community Commercial

Christy May started her real estate career in Greater Boston in communications of large commercial projects. She named Fidelity’s FMR Properties Boscom for the acquisition of Massport’s Pier. It is now the heart of the thriving South Seaport area there. Producing a 9-minute summary video of the proposal was key to securing the Pier and surrounding land for Fidelity.

Coming from TV News Production at Channel 10 in Miami where she received an AB in Liberal Arts and a BS in Marine Bio Chemistry from Rosensteil School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, she stayed in TV News at Channel 5 in Boston while pursuing her Master’s Degree in Communications from Boston University. Christy was also the constituent representative of Chinatown and the Leather District during the Big Dig and this reclaimed area became the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

Her mom had a thoroughbred race horse farm in Myakka Ranches – 6 miles east of I75, off Clark Rd. When Boston winters became worse and worse, she and her husband moved to Lakewood Ranch, which is now the fastest-growing community in the US! She joined Coldwell Banker when the Residential Community Commercial group called to her! Perfect!

Lakewood Ranch is comprised of dozens of Communities! Actually, so is Sarasota for the most part especially recently. It is valuable to study the differences in the communities in order to help clients moving to the area. A good business plan has been, “Send me your retired, your frozen, your over taxed!” Christy brings tech companies she grew to know as she named and promoted the COMDEX (Computer Dealer’s Exposition) to being the largest computer show ever, eclipsing the Consumer Electronics Show while she was in Boston. Working with Softbank, she launched tech companies out of her Advertisinq and PR Firm, DM Communications. She promoted New England Enviro Expo and launched many tech companies.

She is launching Florida Ocean Technology Network = FLOTN. Bringing marine tech companies to a sunnier climate than those she knew up North is accomplished by engaging constituent audiences and associations and reminding them that they desire a warmer climate and a body of water in need of their services! Key scientists and employees will follow. Florida could use more technology companies and our current base of hospitality companies should also benefit.

Meanwhile, she is a constituent representative for the Sarasota Garden Club and in the Ecological, Environmental, Educational Work Group for the 53 acres owned by the city on Sarasota Bay. Sarasota Garden Club is the gateway on Blvd of the Arts to Phase 1 which is a pedestrian pier of this new city park!

A consortium of neighbors and neighborhoods was able to form a group that hired Sasaki for the concept and the development. The City of Sarasota awarded the first comprehensive development plan for this acreage in 47 years to The Bay Conservancy which is working with the City in all ways to bring us this fabulous city park.

Phase 1 is to be completed in 2020. The rest of the park which preserves the mangrove area and includes new multi-level parking, a new Van Wezel, and the current municipally-loved buildings beside the Sarasota Garden Club, a boat inlet and launch, an outdoor auditorium and more!

Not retiring anytime soon from residential real estate, Christy loves matching lifestyles to home buying. Bringing all her passions home; Real Estate, Science, Communications, Marine Environment, Ecology, Development, and Lifestyles!

Yes!
