July 4, 2019 – Happy 4th Of July!

A Little 4th Of July History.

The 4th of July, also known as Independence Day, began as a federal holiday in 1941. However, the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence. Two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th is celebrated as the birth of American independence. We’re all familiar with the festivities ranging from parades, fireworks, to more casual family/friends gatherings and barbecues.

Be safe!

Factoid: Did you know New York City has the biggest fireworks display in the United States and three U.S. presidents died on July 4th?
