Work Starts Soon On Bicycle/Walking Trail To St. Armands

Australian Pines Will Be Cut Down As Part Of Coon Key Project.

Construction of a trail to smooth the way for pedestrians and cyclists from the Ringling Bridge to St. Armands Key is expected to begin in in the next sixty days. The project, known as the Coon Key MURT (Multi Use Recreational Trail) is an initiative to install ten foot sidewalks starting at the twin bridges that connect Bird and Coon keys.

The new sidewalks will provide walkers, runners and cyclists with more space to make the trip from the mainland to St. Armands Circle and back. Construction is expected to last about eleven months with no road closures.
