Gulf Coast Community Foundation Awards Arts Appreciation Grant. Sarasota Opera was awarded a $50,000 Arts Appreciation Grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The grant offers unrestricted funding to area arts organizations in support of their artistic mission. National Endowment For The Arts Supports Production Of The Dialogues of the Carmelites. National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu approved an Art Works award of $20,000 to support the winter 2017 production of The Dialogues of the Carmelites by Francis Poulenc. More than $82 million has been designated to fund local arts projects and partnerships around the country in the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2016. The Sarasota Opera announced that the block of Pineapple Avenue stretching from 1st Street to Main Street will be temporarily re-named “Verdi Place” in honor of Sarasota Opera’s completion of the Verdi Cycle during the 2016 Winter Festival Season by the City of Sarasota. Sarasota Opera Student Season Pass Program Launches. Funding Supports Film Projection Equipment For The Opera House. Sarasota Opera was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation which will complete the necessary funding for film projection equipment for the Opera House.  The equipment will enable Sarasota Opera to create an opera broadcast and film series during the off-season, expanding Sarasota Opera’s programming from the fall and winter season to year-around.  In addition, the increased technical capacity will allow rental partners the opportunity to increase their programming possibilities.
