Event To Remain In Current Location. In a special meeting the Sarasota City Commissioners unanimously approved the 19th Annual Thunder by the Bay remaining in its current location of lower Main Street. APRIL FOOLS! Thunder by the Bay raises over $150,000 annually for special needs clients locally thanks to Suncoast Charities for Children and generates an economic impact of over $8 million and 6,000 room nights. Suncoast Charities For Children Needs YOUR Support! On February 1st at 6pm join those in support of continuing Thunder by the Bay at the scheduled Sarasota City Commission meeting at City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota. There is significant opposition to continuing the festival from the City. An informal, non-scientific, survey conducted after the festival by Downtown Economic Development Coordinator, Norm Gollub, paints a picture those opposing Thunder want to see. The 18th Annual “Thunder By The Bay” Motorcycle Festival begins TODAY and once again promises to be one of Sarasota’s biggest premier events kicking off the new year from January 7-10, 2016. The weekend begins today, Thursday, January 7th, with a Sporting Clay Tournament at Knight’s Trail Park followed by “Born To Be Wild” Kickoff Party at Sarasota Ford.
