Market Begins to Bounce Back in May, But Down from Last Year. Housing data for May 2020 confirms another month of slowed market activity in Sarasota Manatee due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to the data the two counties saw a decline in sales and supply, causing median prices to rise again. Pending sales and new listings decreased from last year but month-over-month improvements point to a positive return to pre-pandemic conditions.

With April’s stay-at-home order a pause in the housing market was expected. Significant decreases in overall market activity were the result when compared to April 2019. Sarasota and Manatee counties experienced declines in closed sales, pending sales and new listings, while median prices stay on the rise. 28,000 GoDaddy Hosting Accounts Compromised On May 4, 2020, GoDaddy, one of the world’s largest website hosting providers, disclosed that the SSH credentials of approximately 28,000 GoDaddy hosting accounts were compromised by an unauthorized attacker. SSH, while extremely secure if configured correctly, can allow logins with either a username/password combination, or a username and a public/private key pair. It is unclear which of GoDaddy’s hosting packages were affected by this breach.
Coronavirus/COVID-19 And The City Of Sarasota Force Shutdown Of Annual Powerboat Races Organizers for the 36th Annual Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix, originally scheduled for June 26-28, have announced the race will not be held as originally planned and look to possibly rescheduling the race later this year pending CDC, state, and local government guidelines. The City of Sarasota advised organizers recently that they are temporarily postponing all upcoming events until further notice. Follow event updates HERE.
