Equifax Data Breach Part II. Ashley Moody, Florida’s Attorney General, warns of new phishing scam targeting people victimized by the credit monitoring company, Equifax’s, previous data breach. The Equifax settlement set up a $425 million fund to help those affected by the 2017 data breach that impacted nearly half of all Americans. Now scammers are creating fake claim websites to gain access to personal information from Floridians. Anyone who was a victim of the Equifax data breach and wants to file a claim should visit the official claims website, which is EquifaxBreachSettlement.com. Moody said the phishing scam succeeds because it […]

Be Careful How You Charge Your Device! A bigger threat than charging cables are public USB charging stations. “There are certain things in life that you just don’t borrow,” says Charles Henderson, Global Managing Partner and Head of X-Force Red at IBM Security. “If you were on a trip and realized you forgot to pack underwear, you wouldn’t ask all your co-travelers if you could borrow their underwear. You’d go to a store and buy new underwear.” The easiest, and usually quite effective, way to avoid these problems is to switch off the smartphone completely before charging it and keeping […]

Duplexes Now Allowed In Single Family Neighborhoods. Oregon has become the first state in the nation to require cities with a population of more than 10,000 to permit duplexes in neighborhoods that were once zoned for single-family zoning—or only one home per lot. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown signed four bills into law last week that set out to address the state’s housing shortages. “This session, we committed to significant investments that will help every Oregon family have a warm, safe, and dry place to call home,” Brown said in a statement. “No one single solution will address our housing crisis, […]

Victory over Japan Day (also known as V-J Day, Victory in the Pacific Day, or V-P Day) is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered in World War II, in effect bringing the war to an end. The term has been applied to both of the days on which the initial announcement of Japan’s surrender was made – to the afternoon of August 15, 1945, in Japan, and because of time zone differences, to August 14, 1945 (when […]

Another Dire Warning For Windows Users. Another dire warning for Windows users after threat researchers at Proofpoint disclosed “previously undocumented malware.” This one has a twist. This malware was not an attack in itself, it is an enabler, hiding on infected computers, establishing a proxy that other malware can then use to manage traffic to the PC and carry out their own threats. Monday, July 29, 2019

National Chicken Wing Day Rightfully Proclaimed In 1977 By Buffalo Mayor Stan Makowski. Today, National Chicken Wing Day encourages a frenzy of dipping and sauce tasting. Also known as buffalo wings, hot wings or just wings, we each consume about 290 wings per year. While a chicken has two wings per bird, it produces four of these tasty morsels. That’s because when the wing is dissected it breaks down into the wingette, drumette, and tip. The wingette and drumette get seasoned and fried into the deliciousness we love. HISTORY After a number of years of different establishments selling their version […]

The US had hoped to start peace talks to bring an end to the war. The US asked the UN to establish a military armistice commission to oversee all agreements. US officials proposed the creation of a 20-mile wide […]
