Captain Jerry Chitwood Chitwood Charters Eskimo III By Ed Bertha Cover Photography by James Corwin Johnson “Voyage Of The Eskimo III” One could talk for hours about Captain Jerry Chitwood. Known locally for Chitwood Charters, most in Sarasota don’t know what this unpretentious individual has accomplished, and who he knows. Be it the huge painting that still hangs in Indiana’s Ben Davis High School commemorating his wrestling feats. Or, the tough middle linebacker at Indiana State University, who also was the team’s captain. Maybe it’s becoming a pilot at age 21 and being featured in Neiman Marcus’ “His/Her Gift of […]
70th Birthday Cruise Photography/Story By Deborah O’Mara Recently I had the opportunity to surprise my husband, Charlie, on his 70th birthday with an extended cruise on the SS Catherine (Saone River & Rhone River) & SS Antoinette (Rhine River). The trip was organized by Pat and Randy Lyon, Realtors at Berkshire Hathaway through their company, Cruise Planners. We had a group of 28 (14 couples) and it was truly amazing! I even visited with two clients in Amsterdam! If I can share one thing about River Cruises, it’s like being at the Ritz Carlton 24/7. I was very fortunate to […]

Chef Paul Mattison Represents Southeast At American Harvest Workshop By Cindy Cockburn Photography by Terence McCarthy “Chef Paul Mattison was one of five chefs in the nation invited to the American Harvest Workshop this past September 12-16 at the prestigious Cakebread Cellars in California. He was the only Chef representing Florida and in fact, named as the only Chef in the Southeast asked to participate in this annual event. The American Harvest Workshop is a celebration of wine and food located in the heart of the Napa Valley. Now in its 29th year, this is an intense “hands on” program […]
Exploring Vietnam’s Hang Son Doong Cave By Susan Hritz More People Have Been To Outer Space Than Have Set Foot In Hang Son Doong Cave “Subterranean Awesomeness” is how our group described our 5 day adventure in the Hang En and Hang Son Doong caves of Vietnam. In celebration of my son, David Olson’s 25th birthday, the two of us traveled to Vietnam to tour Halong Bay, the world’s largest cave, Son Doong, and the historical sites of Hue and Hoi An. It was an adventure of a lifetime; both physically and mentally challenging: a unique experience and a birthday […]
