Venice, Florida To Gain Bob’s Twist & Shake Ice Cream Shop
J.E. Charlotte Construction To Construct Retro Ice Cream Parlor.
J.E. Charlotte Construction announced a new construction project for Bob’s Twist & Shake ice cream shop. Bob’s Twist & Shake ice cream shop is slated for completion by April 1, 2010 and will be located at 420 U.S. 41 By-Pass in Venice, between the existing Taco Bell and Arby’s. Using a concept borrowed from a previous era the building will be an iconic, contemporary version of a 60’s drive-up ice cream stand. A 3-dimensional ice cream cone will be suspended from the building’s facade and the facility will include a covered walk-up and drive-thru window.
For owner Robert Johnson the retro ice cream and shake business will be a first time experience. While conceptualizing the project, Johnson made the decision to commission local architects, engineers and contractors to design, build and landscape the project. With the current construction project, and the staff to be hired by Johnson, an additional 15 jobs will be created.
The location for Bob’s is on a site previously occupied by a bank building that has remained a vacant parcel for quite some time. The project will pose a slight challenge to the construction crew, as there is only 90 days to fully complete construction of the ice cream shop. Architect, Mark Beebe, of Beebe Design Studio Architects designed the building incorporating a variety of exterior pedestrian spaces, including covered canopy seating as well as shaded outdoor garden seating to be landscaped by Hazeltine Nurseries of Venice.
