Dr. Alan Porter, M.D., F.A.C.R., and founder of Porter Radiation Oncology Centers, was named to the Best Doctors In America 2010-2011 database for the fourteenth year in a row. The database is a valued resource for consumers containing the names and professional profiles of the best doctors in the United States as determined by a detailed peer-review survey.
Dr. Porter is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Radiology. He received his B.S. in Chemistry, M.S. in Radiation Physics, and medical degree from the University of Florida. He completed his Residency at the University of Florida, where he served as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor, with additional training at M. D. Anderson Hospital. His professional affiliations include serving as a Past President of the Florida Radiological Society (FRS), the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO), the Sarasota County Medical Association, and the American Cancer Society. He was a founding trustee of Hospice Foundation of Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties, and is currently a member of the Physicians Advisory Council and a consultant to Medicare-Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida.
